Yep that is me, running on the beach last week. I so cannot wait for Summer. I love the water, whether its the pool, the ocean or even the sprinkler, Water is Mega-wicked cool! I have been busy with school and playing on the weekends. This past weekend Shelly Belly and I hit the ball park for some fun. It was cool but boy was I wiped out. Mom said I snored all night long - ha ha ha.

I also graduated my Adult Good Manner Class and now going to be starting my training for agility. Its cool because I can jump over things, thur things and use my smarts! I am going to a good agility dog. Well thats all for now....Got to keep it short.

Oh, wait, I did get a new friend. Shes cousin Yoshi -see above!!

April's Column - Pet Gazette

Hi everyone, it’s the Banana! I am enjoying the warmer weather are you? I like it because I can go outside and play with my toys and friends. However, the only drawback is that I get mega-wicked tired at night and cannot stay up to watch my television shows. Anyway, guess what? I turned one year in March! Mom held a cool party for me and I got tons of cookies and toys. I also got treated to a manicure and pedicure at my favorite doggie spa. All in all, my favorite part of my birthday, was my cookies!!! I tried to tell Mom and Dad that cookies are like potato chips…you just cannot eat one! They think I am funny.

I also got a job! Yep, me, Hanna Banana is working for a living. It’s actually a mega-wicked cool job with the boxer rescue league. I am an official Volunteer for Boxer Buddies! However for the young pups out there, a volunteer means you really do not get paid for your work, but my mom is great and rewards me on the side.

Here is the low down on my job. I travel with my Mom and Dad to do home evaluations for people who are interested in adopting a dog that needs a home. If the prospective home already has a dog(s), then that is where I come in. I make sure that they are dog friendly and play nice with me, and show no aggression. It’s mega-wicked cool because I can meet new friends. We play and in the end, I am really helping a dog in need of a home get a home. So that makes me feel good about myself. Mom thinks I do a great job because I am so friendly and of course love to play. I could make a profession out of playing, but then no canine would ever take me seriously.
This past weekend I met a boxer named Lola. Her Mom and Dad are looking for a brother for her, and felt that rescue was the way to go. So I played with her, and we had a blast. She shared her toys, and man does she have some cool toys. We traded e mail addresses and I told her to keep me posted on her new brother when they get one. She was mega-wicked cool, I like Lola.

That was a happy story. With every happy story there comes a sad story. Mom and I also did a surrender evaluation. What this means is that someone could not keep their dog and we needed to go in and evaluate them to see if they were dog friendly. I guess this evaluation determines what kind of foster home they need to go to. Well it was a sunny Sunday and we headed into the city to evaluate a dog named Rocky. When he first came out to meet me, I was like “Wow, what a Hunk!” He was a big brindle male, white markings and very strong, he has tons of muscle. I knew if Shelly Belly (by best friend) and I saw him at a dog park, we would be in love at first sight! Ok, sorry for getting side tracked.

Rocky is being surrendered because his parents moved and left him with an older couple that just did not have the room to let him run. Rocky is the kind of dog that needs some cardio, not just lift weights. We chatted for a bit, and he seemed to be sad. He liked his current family but knew they were only doing what was in his best interest. Then I told Rocky about my home evaluation from the day before, and my new friend Lola. I told him not to be sad, but because he is going into a great program that is going to find him a forever home where he can live like a king, have room to run and possibly brothers and sisters. He may even get mega-wicked lucky and find a family who lives on the ocean, have a room with a view and dine on doggie caviar. He seemed better knowing that his life was going to possibly have the opportunity to be better, and not worse.

He then told me that he was talking to some dogs around the complex that made fun of him saying he was going to go to a shelter and this may be his last year to live if no one takes him. He said he has his quirks but is only 2 years old and has a lot of stuff that he wants to do yet. I told him not to worry. Some dogs go to places like that and others get into the rescue program. The bonus of the rescue program is that they do not do what those complex dogs were talking about. That’s all bark and is not what is going to happen to him, and I gave him my Banana Word. Rocky is mega-cool and I got his number (shhhh…don’t tell mom) and hope to track his progress though my fellow volunteers at the rescue. Mom took some pictures of him, and then when she was asleep I sent them over to Shelly Belly like “Check out this hottie”, we had a good Boxer laugh.

So I have learned a couple of things from my first week on the job. I learned that sometimes someone else’s loss is another’s treasure. Lola is going to get a mega-wicked cool brother and in the case of Rocky, I know that he is going to be fine. However, canines need to spread the word of the rescue so hopefully they (the Rescue Leagues) can find homes to foster or even better forever homes for dogs like Rocky. So when Lola gets her brother and Rocky his home, I can go to bed a night knowing that Hanna Banana made a difference in the Canine World!!

Beach Bums!!!

Well this past weekend, Shelly Belly and I headed up to romp around on the beach. Its mega-wicked cold out, but there since its off-season, we can run off leash. He had a blast. We played ball, tug-o-war, and chase. I like playing with Shelly Belly. We talk alot especially since we came from the same breeder in Oklahoma and both live in the same town - Neat-O hu? We shared stories from back on the farm! Silly doggies! Well here are some pictures from our play date - Enjoy!!!

Cold Cold Go Away......

It's mega-wicked cold out. I love the snow, but I want it to be warmer so I can go out an play all the time. I like to run an play catch in the yard with mom and dad, but they only last like 30 minutes in the cold. They are wimps!! I did have a slumber party a couple of weeks ago! Cousin Murphy and Shelly Belly came over and we had a mega-wicked fun playdate. By 11pm, we were all ready to crash! It takes TONS of energy to wear us down!! Dad got a new chair which I have claimed as my new dog bed. At night its funny because we both try to claim it. If he wins, I just sneak my way on to it with him until he gives up. Its fun!!!

This is me after writing my Feb Column - I'm Pooped!

Happy New Year Everyone!!!

I am starting 2007 with a bang! Mom and I have been working really hard on my new column for the Pet Gazette. Last month was our first column in print. I was mega-wicked excited to see my name, Hanna Banana in the newpaper!!! We have heard a lot of good comments about our article and just submitted our February column. Its cool.

Mom and Dad got me a personal trainer - not that I am over weight and need it for exercise, but to fine tune some training with me. We are using the clicker and its working wonders. Mom and Dad also learned a lot of what they do that makes me think I can do things, which I should not. But I really really like to countersurf mom. I have been told that this is unacceptable. They said it can hurt me by jumping up there. I personally just thing they do not want to share their food.

Anyway, its getting cold, and I am really really looking forward to snow. I have never seen it. I see it on TV but I want to get out there and make dog-angles! ha ha ha. If and when its snows, I will take pictures. Mom said yellow snow is not cool, and to stay away. Snow is only good to eat in its white form. She is sooo smart.

Hope everyone had a mega-wicked good holiday. Mine was super neat. I got TONS of gifts and still have some to open! I got a lot of treats, and many of toys. I got like every kind of Cuz ball they create. Its awesome! I also got some stuff from the Healthy Animal as well as a gift certificate so I can go there and pick out my own stuff (thanks Shelly).

Other than that I am resting an relaxing, I ate a mega-wicked lot. Sorry I have not updated this site in a big. I have had a lot going on. I have been playing really hard at daycare and get a bit tired in the evenings. I also wrote my first column for the Pet Gazette this month that is going to hit the shelves on January first.

I am ready, I have been preparing to give my "sad dog " look to mom and dad because I want a mega wicked lot of presents this year. How was your turkey day? I tried some green beans, was not a big fan but the Turkey was Yum-a-roo!

Enough on turkey day lets get to the real holiday, Christmas. I want tons of stuff. Leaving hints around the house, I hope mom and dad get them. I am sooo excited, I want three Cuz balls, 85 bully sticks, a 40lb bag of Canidae, a new bed, four new collars and leashes (I am a fashionista), and a lot of treats!!!

Think they can handle that? I hope so!

I am getting Big

I hit a big 8 months next week. Wow, can you believe it, 8 months! Woooo Whooooo! Only a little more time left until my first birthday. Then I will be a mega wicked big girl.

Nothing much going on, I got a new friend - Murphy. He is an 11 week old Chocolate Lab. Mom and Dad's friends picked him up this week and brough him over to visit. He is little like I was and he was very shy. I am going to give him some time and he will come around. He is very pretty. Gotta run for now, football is almost on!!!

Howdy, its Halloween, and I am the devil. Wait, I mean to say I am going to be the devil. I am not the devil, just going to portray one for the holiday. Oh, I am mega-wicked tired, and no worries friends, this beer is full, I prefer light beer only.

What are you going to dress up as??? Are you going to get a mega wicked lot of treats??? Well thats it for now, just wanted to say Happy Halloween. Got Henry's wedding tomorrow. I will let you know how it went.

Bouncing Back!

Well I have bounced back!! Mom and Dad said no daycare for me this week because they want my incision to heal before I go play hard with all my friends. So I have been in the house all week. No fun man. Although Suz my dogwalker has come to visit me and letting me out for a potty break. Today was super special too. Mom left work early to come and spend the afternoon with me. We went to the Healthy Animal, got some food and new bones, they gave me a cookie, then we went to the bank, they gave me a cookie, and then to Petsmart to enroll me in puppy 2 school, guess what, I got a cookie. Mom called me her cookie monster today, but to tell you the truth, the only cookie I acutally ate was the one they gave me at the Healthy Animal. It was a baseball and half dipped in yogurt. Yogurt....yummmy, thanks mummy!!!

Well Sunday, I start puppy school again, we saw Lisa today and there is a full class. That is megga wicked cool - new friends!!! And Monday I can go back to daycare! I wonder if all my friends there missed me. I miss them. Granted we run around and play, but I miss their drama. Henry is getting married on 10-31, (Halloween) and I am sure he is a nervous wreck!!! I am going to that wedding and mom said I can get a new collar for the event. Whooo hoooo!!!

What a day, Got a Spay

Well I underwent some surgery so that I am not going to have to experience any teen pregancies. Its went real well, and I am doing fine. Mom took a couple of days off for me and is giving me 105% attention. I love it. Today we ate some human food, kind of bland but Mom says I need blant until I am better. Then we went outside and I rolled around in the grass and tried to chase leaves. Mom said no leave chasing until after I heal.

So I am going to lay around and soak up some rays!! Write some more later when the medication wears off.

Its Sunday and the sun is shining!! Also its rather nice outside today. Mom and I went for a walk, and played with a stick today. She thought it would be super funny if I sit infront of the Fall decorations she put up last weekend. And of course, the camera was with us. Mom and that Camera. Mom calls me her cuddle bug because I love to cuddle when she is relaxing. I am wearing my Patriots collar today because they are playing. Everytime I wear it they win! Go figure! I just say beginners luck. Later today I am going to take out my toy football and pretend I am Tom Brady and play ball. Although Mom is no Troy Brown, I will do my best to make her feel like she is a star. I'm outta here, games on!

October's Here....(I'm sick)

Boy did I catch a stomach bug. Nothing bad or anything just was not feeling so hot. Dad took me to the Vet yesterday and she put me on some stuff to make me feel better. I am going to try to milk this for a bit because mom is feeding me a lot of good stuff (boiled chix and rice). I am glad because since October is here I want to run and chase leaves. It's a long weekend and I am also glad because I get to be with Mom & Dad for three whole days 24/7. Mom says she is going to try to start to take me for walks downtown now that I am older. We will go early so that I do not have any distractions. Sounds good to me!! I love exercise - did I mention chasing leaves??

Weekend's Almost Here!!!!

Well its Thursday, Mom and Dad have been busy this week. They trade off on getting me at daycare, and tomorrow is my big girl day. I get a dog walker on Tues & Fri. Mom says that these are my days to show that I am a good big girl and not a baby anymore. I am doing mega wicked good. This weekend she is going to scout out a new class for me since I graduated puppy school last week. It's a class called "Good Manners". I think I have them (good manners) but always a refresher class is good. Maybe there will be some cute boy dogs!!

Thats it for now, pretty boring week for me.

Well I don't. I am at daycare today, and snuck away to type a little something. We were mega wicked late for daycare this am because Mom and Dad decided to go to the Patriots game last night with Uncle Jeff. They got home really late, but I was soooo excited to see them when they got home!!! We all snoozed but they were tired this morning. Mom even said "Hey, lets be late for work and sleep in 45 more minutes". And we did, such a good Mom. Weekend was pretty mellow. I have my last puppy school class next week. I did mega wicked good on Saturday with my loose leash walking. Mom got me some salmon to add to my kibble. She said the Omega 3 oils are really good for my coat. Since I am a Professional Puppy Dog Eyes Model, I thought this was mighty nice of her. So I have her tons and tons of kisses. I have decided that I love when Mom goes grocery shopping. She always gets Daddy a treat and me too. I especially like it because half the time Daddy shares his, but we do not tell Mom or we'd both be in the dog house. Well that's it, gotta go back to playing with my dog friends.

Doggie Days....

Well last night there was not too much celebration for my 6 month b-day. I was pooped. Dad picked me up from daycare and that was a treat since he has been gone all week with work. I was sooooo tired that I slept the whole ride home. Mom gave me an extra special dinner and then guess what? I could not pick my head up off to even say thank you! So that pretty much sums up my evening.

Today Daddy stayed home with me, he needs a break from work. So today is our day. We plan on sleeping in while Mom works (ha ha ha) and then make her a nice dinner. We have to go to bed early tonight because tomorrow morning I have Puppy School and need to beat Mandy on my stunts. I have slight A.D.D., but nothing that freeze dried liver will not cure! Well thats all for now! Happy Friday !!!
